The Barn Sport & Health Zaanstad takes personal training in the Zaan region to the next level. Our approach to personal training is truly personal: every session is by appointment only. This means you can work toward your goals and health in an intimate, focused setting where you’ll always get the attention you deserve.

At The Barn, our private studio becomes your second home. Enjoy a freshly brewed coffee, a restorative protein shake, or a refreshing bottle of water after your workout. A towel for your shower is ready and waiting. All you need to bring are clean clothes and the motivation to get started.

What immediately drew me to The Barn was the warm welcome from the trainers. After the introductory meeting, it was the first time I felt that working out could actually be enjoyable. Without feeling intimidated by a crowded gym full of people and machines.

It’s a small-scale gym, but it feels like having your own personal fitness space at home. The upstairs lounge invites you to relax with a coffee or a nourishing shake and have a friendly chat. It almost feels like your living room. For those who need to head straight to work or elsewhere, there’s a private bathroom with everything you need to freshen up and get ready for the rest of your day.

There’s a lot of personal attention. Not just for your fitness goals. I love the creativity of the trainers when designing workout plans and how they make the most of the equipment available. Nothing complicated: just effective exercises you can do almost anywhere, which keeps me motivated to stay consistent.

Because all sessions are by appointment, you often have the space almost entirely to yourself, making it a very comfortable and focused environment to work toward your goals. Anyone who joins The Barn can expect a warm, welcoming, and supportive community!

The Barn is an incredibly pleasant studio to train at: small-scale but highly professional. The coaching is excellent; the trainers always pay close attention to your technique and give clear, practical tips to improve your form (which I definitely need!).

The atmosphere is relaxed. No excessive testosterone or endless mirror staring, just genuine motivation. The PT sessions are more focused on your personal goals, and I notice that during those sessions I push myself a little further and see faster progress.

The nutrition advice is also very comprehensive. The collaboration with The Studio for yoga and breathwork is really interesting. I haven’t tried it myself yet, but I’ve heard great things about how well the combination works.

All in all, The Barn is absolutely worth recommending. If you’re unsure whether strength training — or any form of getting fitter — is right for you, this is the perfect place to start. I’ve tried many gyms before but always ended up quitting. Until now.

Such a great place to work out! When the doors are open on a sunny day, you get a beautiful view of the fields. It’s an intimate, small-scale gym, which means there’s real personal attention. You never feel like just another member. The trainers are super friendly, knowledgeable, and always know how to challenge and motivate you to push just a little further.
